Improved High Q Value of a MgTiO3–CaTiO3 Microwave Dielectric Resonator Using ZnO Doped for Microwave Applications

Abstract:
The effect of ZnO dopants on the microstructures, the phase formation and the microwave dielectric properties of (1-x)MgTiO3–xCaTiO3 (x = 0.1– 0.5) perovskite ceramic bodies were investigated. The microwave dielectric properties are found to strongly correlate with the content of calcium, the addition of ZnO and the sintering temperature which played an important role in the developed crystalline phases. MCT ceramic bodies with increasing CT content at the expense MT led to an increase in dielectric constants (?r) values from 23.5 to 92. On the other hand, the addition of ZnO to ceramic bodies caused a reduction in ?r values between 20 and 64. Maximum quality factor (Q x ƒ) values 118?103 GHz at 11 GHz accompanied by relatively low values in dielectric constants (?r) was recorded in the ZMCT20 body (x = 0.2) sintered at 1325 °C for 3 h.
